Eileen is an experienced counselor with a Masters of Science in Counseling and over 15 years of experience in the United States and Japan. She has provided therapy and care for a wide range of conditions, in both private and educational settings, for a spectrum of ages from teenagers to the elderly.

Eileen completed her Master’s degree in Counseling at Cairn University in Pennsylvania, USA with a specialization in personal, family and marriage counseling. She received Specialization in Member Care training from Columbia International University. She received Disaster Relief Chaplaincy Training (through Samaritan's Purse) and has had training in Trauma and Grief Counseling as well as counseling Cross-Culturally. She has received certification in Cerny-Smith Assessment. 

While at the Devereux Foundation, a US-based nonprofit behavioral health organization, Eileen assisted teens with a wide range of emotional and behavior issues. During time serving as a secondary school guidance counselor, she specialized in counseling students coping with self-harm, depression, anxiety, and family dysfunction. An emphasis became counseling students struggling with identity issues, specifically adoption and gender. 

Eileen provided trauma care to survivors of the 3-11 Disaster in Tohoku, Japan for two and a half years. During this time, Eileen also provided online counselling for those suffering from secondary Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD) throughout Japan following the disaster. More recently, she worked in a clinical setting at a Tokyo mental health clinic. Eileen has maintained a private counselling practice for fifteen years, serving the missionary and expat community in Japan. In that practice she has had extensive counseling experience addressing a wide range of conditions including personal and family relational issues, as well as anxiety, stress, and tensions that are associated with cross-cultural living.

Eileen is herself a passionate member of a missionary organization in Japan, where she was Member Care Facilitator for many years. Eileen raised 3 TCKs in Japan which has given her a heart to see TCKs not only survive but thrive in their emotional and personal lives. Presently, her and her husband are engaged in church planting in central Japan.
