Ruth hails from East Malaysia, but having grown up as a missionary kid (MK) in the Sahara Desert of West Africa, hardly calls it home. She then went even further away from “home” and studied in the United States. Ruth’s heart and passion for youth brought her to the Clinical Counselling Program at Columbia International University in Columbia, South Carolina. There she focused her studies on adolescents and family systems. During her time at CIU she gained experience working with grief and loss, as well as adolescents. All the while, she was working as a youth leader in her church. Following her studies, Ruth went back to serve as a missionary in West Africa. Though her role was not to be a formal counsellor at the missions school for the next three years, in working with boarding students and youth groups, Ruth had the opportunity to mentor and disciple many MKs.

Ruth moved to Thailand in 2014 to join the Member Care team at The Well. In 2017, Ruth crossed over from counselling into administration at The Well. In June of 2018 she began serving as the Thai Ministries Coordinator, helping The Well invest in and serve the people of Thailand.
