Peter grew up in a small town in central British Columbia in western Canada in a Dutch immigrant family. He always had an interest in missions, but wondered how he could use his skills as a carpenter in construction on the mission field. When he learned of the opportunity to volunteer with Youth With A Mission (YWAM) in Kona, Hawaii on their building project he took the plunge. Hawaii was the first step to a journey in missions on several continents with various mission agencies, initially on short term stints, but eventually long term with Youth With A Mission (YWAM). In addition to using his construction skills and experience, he has also served in various roles being responsible for finances of different YWAM teams.
Along the way he met and married Gill, who is English and has a background in Occupational Therapy and Christian counselling. His family has been in Chiang Mai since 2013, initially with their two children, Dave and Jessica. Dave is attending university in England while Jessica attends Grace International School.
He enjoys serving with The Well in the position of Finance and Facilities Manager as it makes use of his blend of skills and experiences.
