Do you feel you are robbed of passion and vitality in your daily living? Do you sometimes find yourself wanting more - then feeling a little guilty because life isn’t supposed to be just about what you want? If so, come and join our Processing Group using Paula Rinehart’s book, “Strong Women Soft Hearts,” a guide to reclaiming your heart.
Based on 40 years of research on relationships, John Gottman distilled Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work. The foundation for the Seven Principles is the simple truth that happy marriages are based on friendship.
Bridging the Couple Chasm: This two-day training provides a research-based road map for helping couples compassionately manage their conflicts, deepen their friendship and intimacy, and share their life purpose and dreams. There will be opportunity to discuss additional approaches such as integration and restoration therapy.
This three-day workshop will provide you with an opportunity to deepen your understanding of Gottman Method Couples Therapy and expand your strategies and interventions in your work with couples. You will also be able to integrate a comprehensive set of interventions for use with couples in therapy. Additionally, you will understand the situations in which couple therapy may be contraindicated.
Sometimes in order to thrive we need to try new ways to connect our lives to God -- new ways to listen and to engage in conversation with him. Art can be one of those new ways. Sometimes we need someone else to create space for us to engage in that which we find renewing and filling.
Third Culture Kids (TCKs) are children who grow up in a culture that is not their passport culture. How does that affect a child?
How can parents, teachers, and other adults support the child to embrace the beauty and endure the challenges of the TCK experience?
This is a 3-day training for all Member Care providers, school counselors and others who desire to learn how to provide member care for individuals, teams, families, children and teenagers.
The training combines knowledge about member care in general and the specific needs of families and children, with activities and exercises that can be used in providing member care.
Serving overseas is a call and a challenge, where we need to be creative and intentional about leading a healthy life to keep ourselves strong, sensitive, and connected to God and others. But what is a healthy life? How do we see when our lives become unhealthy? And how do we encourage and support changes in habits and lifestyle to those - sometimes that’s me :-) - who are struggling?
Men are called upon to serve in many roles as husband, father, minister while living cross-culturally. This year the international churches are banding together to create some space for the men in our community to rest in and celebrate what God is doing in and through them. This is a relaxed weekend of retreat, of deep worship and spiritual direction.
Family life can be challenging. Family life overseas can be even more challenging. How can we build up a family life where we feel connected to each other and where there is room for joy?
Are you a professional counselor that wants to develop your ability to meet with families and children?
This is a 1-day training where you will learn about some of the theories behind family therapy like: system theory, attachment theory, and neuroscience - that helps us to understand family dynamics. You will learn how to work with a family in the room so everyone is engaged, including some activities you can use for both assessment and treatment.
For Member Care Providers! We see you and see how hard you work for those you care for. We see you need a rest. You need time to simply "be" present to God and to yourself. You need a space set aside for renewal and deepening.
You are invited, at the start of a new church season that is so full and busy, to pause, be still, return and rest, and prepare for blessings of Christmas. The retreat will be structured around daily prayers (offices: morning, mid-day, afternoon and night).
