Clinical Applications in Member Care
This is a one-week intensive course that is designed to increase awareness of clinical knowledge from the mental health professions for best practices in missionary care. Common clinical disorders in the missions context will be examined to develop skill to identify how disorders impact relational, spiritual, and psychological dynamics. Member Care Specialists will be exposed to how to assist workers and when a referral is necessary. Existing care resources will be explored with instruction on how to make an informed referral. Coaching skills will be taught in class to prepare students to do personal enrichment with cross-cultural workers as different modalities of care play a role in missionary care applications.
This one-week intensive course is part of the North American Member Care degree program at Columbia International University. The course can be taken as part of the Master’s or Doctor of Ministry degree program in Member Care. For students challenged in English language skills, they can attend the training as a seminar.
